Broadcast and Podcast

Posted by dparker On June - 22 - 2006

Rejoice, for there are two, count ‘em, two featured websites this week. I know…sometimes I amaze even myself.

With all the recent talk about radio stations and music, I thought it might be a good time to highlight some alternatives to terrestrial and satellite radio.

No, not websites for listening to music, but rather, websites that offer you the opportunity to become your own Internet radio broadcaster. Read the rest of this entry »

    Worth 1000

    Posted by dparker On June - 8 - 2006

A picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes. But a picture can be worth so much more when you drag it into Photoshop and turn it into some sort of bastard image like those found at Worth1000.

The stuff here is often hilarious, ironic, and sometimes a bit frightening, so you’re sure to find something to entertain and emotionally traumatize you.

I’d have more to say except that I watched Havoc last night and seeing Bijou Phillips and Anne Hathaway naked at the same time is screwing with my ability to think.  By the way, those links have nothing to do with the Website of the Week and are very NSFW.

      Neurotically Yours

      Posted by dparker On May - 24 - 2006

There are tons of funny, edgy, and offensive cartoon websites on the Internet, so what makes Neurotically Yours any different? An angry neurotic squirrel named Foamy, that’s what.

Foamy is insensitive, outspoken, and selfish, and hangs out with some curvy goth chick named Germaine whom he constantly annoys and torments. Yup. That’s all I need to hear.

Much of the language is NSFW so turn your speakers way down unless you’re the bosses kid and you wanna piss off your dad.

If that’s the case, then turn it way up and invite some co-workers over to your desk. Feel free to break out a tub of popcorn and a twelve-pack. What’s that? You really do work for your dad? Does mommy iron your socks too?

        What Would Tyler Durden Do?

If you’re anything like the rest of the TV-watching, movie-going public, then at some point in your life you’ve probably thought to yourself, “hey, I wonder who’s nailing Lindsey Lohan this week”, or “what sort of STDs could I catch from rubbing up against Paris Hilton?”. Haven’t we all? Read the rest of this entry »

          The Onion

          Posted by dparker On May - 3 - 2006

The Onion - which bills itself as America’s Finest News Source - is a weekly online publication where all of the “news” is basically stuff they just made up.  And not just any kind of stuff, but the smart and funny kind of stuff that makes you go “oh…that is soooo true”, except that it’s not.

And if there’s one thing funnier about this site than it’s content, it’s the fact that the Beijing Evening News once reprinted an article from the Onion believing it to be legitimate journalism.  Those kooky communists.

            Vice

            Posted by dparker On April - 26 - 2006

Have you ever worn something to a club that was, shall we say, experimental? You know, an ensemble on the bleeding edge of fashion.

Were people extra-nice to you, like you were “special”? Yeah? Did you think it was because you looked uber-trendy? Hmm… Did you give any consideration to the idea that everyone thought you were retarded?

Find out for sure at Viceland.com, the online version of Vice Magazine, and home of the DOs and DON’Ts - hilariously scathing commentary and outright ridicule of the fashion challenged.

Hey, it’s fun to laugh at people in silly clothes.

              Pandora

              Posted by dparker On April - 19 - 2006

Tired of fumbling through radio stations trying to find something you actually like? Oh yeah. You definitely need to check out Pandora.

It works like this: Specify an artist or song to start with and Pandora selects similar songs to add to your playlist. You tell it what you like and what you don’t like and Pandora customizes your playlists (called stations) accordingly.

Add different stations for different types of music. One last thing, Pandora is free!
