Every April, Austin locals gather to celebrate Eeyore’s birthday. Yes, that Eeyore. The sad little donkey from the Winnie the Pooh books by A. A. Milne. The Onion - which bills itself as America’s Finest News Source - is a weekly online publication where all of the “news” is basically stuff they just made up.  And not just any kind of stuff, but the smart and funny kind of stuff that makes you go “oh…that is soooo true”, except that it’s not.

And if there’s one thing funnier about this site than it’s content, it’s the fact that the Beijing Evening News once reprinted an article from the Onion believing it to be legitimate journalism.  Those kooky communists.

I’ve gotta say this is probably one of my favorite photo sets just because everyone looks like they’re having a blast. Except me…because I was stuck at home that night. Dammit! Samantha gets to have all the fun.

Anyway, shout outs to Kim, Paul, Trisha, and Erica (where the hell have you been?) since you’re the only people in the pictures I can recognize by name.

Tired of fumbling through radio stations trying to find something you actually like? Oh yeah. You definitely need to check out Pandora.

It works like this: Specify an artist or song to start with and Pandora selects similar songs to add to your playlist. You tell it what you like and what you don’t like and Pandora customizes your playlists (called stations) accordingly.

Add different stations for different types of music. One last thing, Pandora is free!

In case you were wondering, we totally blew off Texas Week at SPI this year in favor of the South by Southwest (SXSW) music conference in Austin, Texas (more on that in a moment).
It’s funny but the whole photo series started to look more or less like a road trip scrapbook, so I kinda’ just went with that and attached a barely coherent essay to go with it. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
