Just to clarify. This is not an April Fool’s Day joke.
According to Team 4 News, the Progreso police department failed to collect evidence or document the crime scene after a four year old girl was shot in the head last week. (article here)
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department is now assisting with the investigation. Sheriff Lupe Trevino spoke to Team 4 News about his conversation with Progreso’s acting police chief, Lt. Juan Sotelo, and had this to say: “It was clear he was overwhelmed”.
Maybe Progreso PD was too busy busting alleged drunks at the bridge. (Article here and here)
For those of you too young to remember, Progreso PD was once burlarized by thieves who made off with several pounds of marijuana. I swear this actually happened.
If any of you are thinking about a life of crime (and I’m not advocating that cuz life as a gangsta like me aint easy), you may want to get some practice in a place like Progreso before going big time. Just don’t go drinking in Mexico cuz they’re pretty tough on hardened criminals like drunk tourists.
